Everything About Small Farming

Fun Yet Unique Chicken Names for Your Farm

July 4, 2021 by Danielle Winterman Leave a Comment

We have owned chickens on and off over the last 15 years. We ran into some problems with some fisher cats and foxes so we relocated to our brother in-laws and finally have them back on our farm after creating some predator tight mobile structures. We let our chickens out during the day in the yard and in at night. We name all our chickens or at least the ones that are unique.

Everyone wants to name their chickens. It’s an important decision because your chicken will be with you for a long time! Here are some of the most fun and unique names that we could think of.

Choosing a name can be tough, but we have tried to make it easier by putting a wide variety of names so you really only need to come up with the theme you want to follow and we can do the rest. You can go by color, male, female, or maybe famous names. All that and more below.

Chicken Names From Movies

I love naming our animals after our favorite movies especially Disney movies. Our daughter absolutely loves most all Disney movies and characters. This allows her to connect more with the animals.

  • Camilla: Camilla the chicken is Gonzo the Great’s girlfriend in “The Muppet Movie,” albeit Gonzo can’t identify one chicken from another and often dates another ‘chick’ thinking it’s Camilla.
  • Baron Spreckle: Theodore Roosevelt, a naturalist, and the former president had a chicken named Baron Spreckle. President Roosevelt maintained a variety of chickens and other animals at the White House, including the excellent Baron. He even had a Rooster with only one leg.
  • Hei Hei: From Rooster in Moana
  • Chanticler: Chanticler, a rooster seeking popularity, is introduced to us in the 1991 animated film “Rock-a-doodle.” Chanticler relocates to Las Vegas, where he becomes wealthy and well-known as an Elvis lookalike.
  • Booker and Sheldon: There are two female characters named Booker and Sheldon in the extended Garfield franchise (U.S. Acres). Sheldon looks like an egg with feet, whereas Booker looks like a chick.
  • Pepito Chickeeto: From the cartoon
  • Oscar: Salvador Dali kept and raised a chicken named Oscar. Surrealist painter Salvador Dali loves having his chicken in his studio. Some of his works were influenced by the chicken. Furthermore, the chicken would frequently perch on Dali’s shoulder while he worked on his paintings.
  • Goldie: From Rock-A-Doodle
  • Clara Cluck: Mickey Mouse had a buddy named Clara Cluck, who was an operatic chicken. She appeared in a number of Mickey Mouse cartoons, but she never got her own.
  • Billina: From Return to Oz
  • Cocky Locky: From Chicken Little
  • Mort the Chicken: From the Playstation game.
  • Ginger: In the Pixar film “Chicken Run,” Ginger was a Welsummer breed chicken. The orange-colored chicken was a moviegoer’s favorite. She not only appeared in the first film, but she also appeared in the sequel eighteen years later.
  • Babs: From Chicken Run
  • Bernadette the Chicken: Chickens are uncommon in video games, but ‘Bernadette the Chicken’ made her debut as a nasty chicken in Donald Duck’s ‘Goin’ Quackers’ video game.
  • Lady Kluck: From Robin Hood
  • Foghorn Leghorn: He was a well-known character from the Merrie Melodies and Looney Tune animation series. Between 1946 and 1964, Foghorn Leghorn starred in 29 cartoons. Miss Prissy adored him, whereas Henry Hawk saw him as prey. He’s a Leghorn chicken, a type of Italian chicken.
  • Chickaletta: From Paw Patrol
